Side hustles and full-time entrepreneurship – when is the right time to jump ship?
Taking the plunge to becoming a full-time entrepreneur takes courage, especially in times of economic uncertainty. Many people opt to keep their day jobs while testing the water with a ‘side hustle’ - and research suggests that those individuals end up having more sustainable businesses than those who leap into full-time entrepreneurship early on.
The challenge is the timing. When is the right time to ‘jump ship’? What are the risks and challenges? Does the South African entrepreneurship ecosystem take side hustles seriously enough for stakeholders to fund them?
