CAPSI call for 2023 writing and methodology workshop applications

The Wits Business School’s Centre on African Philanthropy and Social Investment (CAPSI) is making a call for 2023 writing and methodology workshop applications. The centre will host a PhD Writing and Methodology Workshop for students and candidates from across Africa and its Diaspora. The workshop is aimed at students who require coaching with framing and submitting successful proposals, as well as candidates who are seeking guidance from seasoned academic supervisors in developing their thesis.

The workshop is scheduled for 25 to 29 September 2023 and will be held at the Wits Rural Facility in Mpumalanga province. The following are criteria of the topics that will be considered:

  • Philanthropy and Social Investment
  • CSI, Social Innovations, and community development
  • Emerging forms of volunteerism and giving frameworks
  • Climate change, climate justice and the role of philanthropy
  • Sustainable development – sustainable investment, ESG compliance, green financing,
  • For-profit Philanthropy
  • Blockchain and Philanthropy

CAPSI is a centre based at WBS and has been structured to promote social change by building a culture of effective giving, and corporate social and civic responsibility. It serves as a source of knowledge, network of partnerships, and a motivation for innovation and community engagement. The Centre aspires to build a new generation of African experts, researchers and academics in African Philanthropy, Social Investment and related disciplines.
